A passport is the international accepted identification document. Every person living abroad must always bear his valid passport to identify himself, no implying migratory status. The information specified in the passport must be exact and accurate as it appears in the documentation provided by the applicant, which is regulated in the Guatemala Immigration Law (Decree No. 529-99 and Decree No. 732-99) APPLICATION IS ONLY IN PERSON. Note: The passport will be sent by private courier (UPS, DHL, or FEDEX), it takes 2 business days. Passport total fee is $65.00 Passport and Consular ID total fee is $90.00
Age 18 and over: 1. Original birth certificate and a photocopy. 2. Original Cédula de Vecindad and a photocopy. Note: If the applicant did have a Cédula de Vecindad, but for any cause it got lost, then the following requirements apply: - Certified copy of Cédula de Vecindad y and a photocopy (It can be obtained at the correspondent city hall by a relative in Guatemala.) - Original birth certificate and a photocopy.
Under 18: ^top Note: Having applied for a Guatemalan passport before is not reason to exclude the following requirements. 1. Original birth certificate and a photocopy. 2. Both parents must be present identifying themselves with a Cédula de Vecindad or a valid passport (no other ID is accepted) - If one of the parents has deceased, an original death certificate must be presented at the time of the application. - If one or both parents are in Guatemala, other state or abroad, an authorization must be processed at the nearest Consulate or at the Consular Affairs Office: - Guatemala - Consular Affairs Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2º. Avenida 4-17 zona 10, Guatemala City, Guatemala). - United States of America - Nearest Consulate. (Check the nearest consulate) - Central and South America, Europe, Asia and Middle East – Nearest consulate or Embassy (Check nearest Consulate or Embassy) Note: If the applicant had a Guatemalan blue passport before, and it was stolen, lost or destroyed, the applicant must let it know to the consular officer before the application is done. |
